Enterprise Carbon Reduction Commitment Stirs Governments in Developed Countries
January 12, 2010
It is a known fact that the largest producers of carbon emissions are
the UK and the US, among the many other developed nations.
Consequently, with the raised issues on environmental degradation due
to carbon emissions, governments are seeking ways to reduce carbon
footprint.
The use of energy from fossil fuels is seen as one of the highest sources of carbon emissions. However, in the absence of mandatory regulations, companies all over the world are just doing carbon emissions reduction and reporting on a voluntary basis.
The UK is already set to mandate the Carbon Reduction Commitment legislation, which will compel British companies to use energy efficiently in order to comply with the new regulations. The US government is seen to follow implementation of a similar mandate.
With the growing pressure from consumers and government regulations to reduce carbon emissions, efficient energy use becomes the center stage of policies, management best practices, and human resource development.
